Mark Holcomb is an American musician and guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist for the progressive metal band Periphery. He was born on September 5, 1984 in Frederick, Maryland, USA.
Holcomb began playing guitar at the age of 16 and later attended Towson University in Maryland, where he studied music. He joined Periphery in 2011, replacing guitarist Alex Bois. Since then, he has contributed to the band's four studio albums and has gained recognition for his intricate and innovative playing style.
In addition to his work with Periphery, Holcomb has also been involved in various music projects and collaborations, including the instrumental band Haunted Shores with fellow guitarist Misha Mansoor.
Holcomb is known for his use of unique guitar techniques and effects, as well as his use of extended-range guitars (e.g. 8-string and 9-string guitars). He has been described as one of the most influential and innovative guitarists in modern progressive metal.
